This beautiful Tarot of Marseilles was realized in Avignon France by master card maker and engraver Jean Pierre Paven in 1713. This magnificent, previously unpublished, edition is possible because of the collaborative efforts of the Swiss Game Museum of The Tower of Peilz in Switzerland, the Museum of the Playing Card from Issy les Moulineaux in France, and the Beinecke Library of Yale University in the United States of America This deck is commonly referred to as a Type 1 which is evident by the faces decorating the devil and because the Emperor has numeral 4 floating in front of his head.
